What is Helike?

The Goddess speaks through Guruji

The Devi declared that she would grant darshan through Sri Abhilash Guruji himself. During the aarti she manifests through Guruji and provides guidance to devotees, helping to resolve their difficulties.

For a family that needs the Devi’s attention on a particular matter, a Special Helike / Aavesh can be arranged for one family. Please contact the temple to arrange it.

Temple guidelines

Before you enter the temple

Every devotee is asked to follow these rules.
  1. 1.

    Take a coupon before the aarti

    A coupon is mandatory for Helike, Darshana or Aavesha. No coupons are issued once the Maha Mangalarati begins.

  2. 2.

    Arrive before the aarti starts

    No one may enter the temple once the aarti has started.

  3. 3.

    Come with a pure body and mind

    Entry is not permitted after consuming alcohol, smoking or eating non-vegetarian food.

  4. 4.

    Leave belongings outside

    Mobile phones, leather belts, purses and watches are not allowed inside the temple.

  5. 5.

    No photography

    Photography and video recording are not permitted inside.

  6. 6.

    Sutak and menstruation

    Devotees observing sutak (13 days) and women within 5 days of menstruation are requested not to enter.

    Dress with devotion

    Women: saree or chudidhar / salwar kameez. Men: dhoti or modest casual wear.

All devotees must strictly follow the temple guidelines. The temple management and Shri Devi shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage, injury or consequences arising from non-compliance with these rules.

Coming for your first Helike? This is how the evening goes. Please read the temple guidelines before you come.

Step 1

Come on Tuesday or Friday

Shri Durga Maha Mangalarati begins at 6:30 PM. Evening darshan opens at 6:00 PM, so arrive early.

Step 2

Collect your coupon

A coupon is mandatory for Helike, Darshana or Aavesha. None are issued once the aarti begins.

Step 3

Bring an offering

Bells, bananas, jasmine, betel-nut adornments and tender coconut are dear to the Devi.

Step 4

Receive her guidance

During the aarti, the Goddess manifests through Guruji and guides devotees in their difficulties.

What is Helike?

Helike is the sacred occasion when devotees seek solutions to their difficulties through Shri Devi. During the Maha Mangalarati, the Goddess manifests through Sri Abhilash Guruji and guides devotees, alongside Darshana and Aavesha.

When is the Maha Mangalarati?

Shri Durga Maha Mangalarati is performed every Tuesday and Friday from 6:30 PM. Darshan is open daily from 7:00 to 9:00 AM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

Do I need a coupon?

Yes. A coupon is mandatory for Helike, Darshana or Aavesha. Coupons are not issued once the Maha Mangalarati has begun, so please arrive early.

What should I wear?

Women are requested to wear a saree or chudidhar / salwar kameez. Men may wear a dhoti or modest casual wear.

Can I bring my phone or take photographs?

Mobile phones, leather belts, purses and watches are not allowed inside, and photography is not permitted.

What offerings are dear to the Devi?

Bells, bananas, jasmine flowers, betel-nut adornments and tender coconut are believed to bring the Goddess's blessings quickly. Devotees also perform Kaayi Deepa Seva, offering lamps lit in coconuts.
